Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a Human Resources Manager to join our clients team and oversee our Human Resources operations in Connecticut. In this pivotal role, you will provide leadership and support to approximately 250+ employees, contributing to an annual sales and manufacturing output of over $85M. Reporting to the Division Human Resource Director, this position will have 1 direct report.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute HR strategies aligned with the overall business strategy.
- Provide comprehensive human resource generalist services, ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies such as EEOC, Human Rights, OFCCP, and OSHA.
- Oversee HR strategies, systems, tactics, and procedures, including maintenance of the Employee Handbook and organizational processes.
- Manage the recruitment process, from job postings to job offers, to attract and retain qualified talent.
- Conduct new employee orientation and department-level training programs in collaboration with managers and supervisors.
- Foster a positive working environment and manage employee relations, occasionally participating in employee meetings and surveys.
- Implement and manage a performance appraisal system, offering training and guidance to ensure fairness and consistency.
- Counsel employees and supervisors on employee issues and performance gaps, facilitating disciplinary actions and terminations when necessary.
- Coordinate with the Corporate office to administer their benefit programs and oversee workers' compensation.
- Assess training needs and monitor training programs, managing training records and ensuring compliance with mandatory training requirements.
- Develop and monitor the annual HR budget, collaborating with the finance team to forecast HR-related expenses.
- Coordinate employee events and community involvement activities, representing the company at job fairs and recruiting events as needed.
- Facilitate internal and external Health and Wellness activities.
- Provide leadership in the development and refinement of the business strategy, ensuring alignment with Human Resources goals.
- Serve as a visible leader for the business, modeling and communicating expectations for ethics, quality, and accountability.
- Collaborate across the organization on policy deployment and interface with customers and regulating bodies as needed.
- Operate as a strong team leader and team builder focused on generating results through collaboration and relationship building.
- Perform other duties as needed or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Organizational Psychology and a minimum of four (4) years of related experience, or a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in HR systems and databases, including payroll processing systems such as ADP or Paycom.
- PHR/SPHR certification preferred.
- 3-5 years of HR generalist experience.
- In-depth knowledge of HR principles, practices, and procedures.
- Superior interpersonal skills and time management.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Experience in the aerospace industry is strongly preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Working conditions primarily consist of office and shop floor environments, with additional personal protective equipment generally not required.
- Occasional lifting of up to 20 – 30 lbs. may be required.
- Weekend and evening work may be necessary to accommodate priorities, deadlines, and schedules.
Preferred Additional Skills and Qualifications:
- Preferred experience in Aerospace and/or Manufacturing.
- Advanced degree is a plus.
