I am recruiting for a dynamic and rapidly growing space engineering and hardware development company who supply the commercial aerospace and private space sectors.

Following a period of growth and another contract award they are looking to recruit for a System Safety Engineer to join their expanding team.

Your Role

As a System Safety Engineer, you will play a critical role and significantly impact the company and industry.  The team is currently developing System Safety Engineering for Fault Tree Analyses, Functional Hazard Assessments, Hazard Reports, Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analyses, and safety mitigation plans for an advanced fluids and propulsion applications. 


Your role will be to provide technical expertise in these varying safety analyses and assessments to update and close out fluids and propuslion design and provide safety deliverables vital to successfully passing the Critical Design Review (CDR). 

Tasks associated with the Safety Assessment include, but are not limited to, the following:
 
  • Subsystem Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) - review baselined reliability values for components and update as necessary or as more component information becomes available.
  • Functional Hazard Assessments (FHAs) - Ensure fluids and propulsion FHAs identify failure conditions, identify the effects of the failure conditions, and classify each failure conditions for all mission phases.
  • Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analyses (FMECA) - Update the FMECA by working directly with component engineers and providing training to rank severity and consequence for their components.
  • Common Cause Assessment (CCA) - Identify events or failures that invalidate redundancy or independence claims. 
  • Human Error Analysis - provide guidance and shepherd drafting of Human Error Assessments used to assess the risk associated with human errors. 
  • Architecture Safety Assessment (ASA) - The ASA is a systematic examination of the proposed system architecture to determine how failures can cause the functional hazards identified by the FHA.  You will create ASA Report using inputs from the above-mentioned safety tools

Requirements:
 
  • Requires Bachelors Degree in Fluids/Propulsion design and development preferably in an  Aerospace/Defense related program
  • 2-10 years demonstrated System Safety experience including development of Safety plans and coordinating completion of system and subsystem safety analysis, providing review, guidance, and expertise of safety analysis products.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency using MS Office and Windows operating systems is required.
  • Experience with web browsers and email applications in and inter/intranet environment is recommended.

 
How You Will Be Rewarded

The annual salary for this role is $100,000 - $150,000. Compensation depends on candidate’s work experience, education/training, and related skills.
