They operate and control one of the largest commercial, satellite constellations in the world and are directing their capabilities towards the Defence & Intelligence sector as well as monitoring natural catastrophes.

About you:

You are an experienced Engineering Manager/Director who has a strong technical background in SAR and proven track record of leading experts and helping them shine and grow.

You will be accountable for the team and add a major contribution to the work they do.

Key Responsibilities:
 

  • Develop innovative algorithms and models for SAR image formation processing
  • Analyze effects of SAR waveforms, CONOPS, and system configurations, and provide recommendations for implementation
  • Perform system level analysis and evaluation with respect to requirements
  • Contribute to software for synthetic data generation and testing
  • Present technical briefings to internal and external stakeholders
  • Opportunities in other technical areas include detection algorithms, autofocus, ISAR, and bi-statics

Key Requirements:
 

  • Communicating and influencing: must be able to explain technical concepts to a wide range of skill sets: peers, other engineers, management (technical and non-technical), sales and marketing.
  • Must have written a Synthetic Aperture Radar Image Formation Processor at some point in their career
  • Demonstrates credibility for leadership, understanding of SAR principles, computer science and signal processing
  • Management: needs to have experience running a team or eclectic engineering personalities with deep and varied skills
  • Adapting the tasks to the people and not vice versa
  • Ability to plan: recognising risk / opportunity and managing it appropriately
  • I.e. understanding when a process is inappropriate, managing its circumvention carefully and rebuilding better processes. 
  • Passionate / interested in science and technology related to space, satellites, computer and languages, mathematics
  • Experience in hiring and growing engineers. Knows what it takes to attract and hire talent and then keep and grow it. 
  • Would have worked in a relevant engineering community as an IC or as a manager at minimum for over 10 years to gain the relevant experience and perspective

About You:

As a Director, Ground Station Communications you will successfully manage and lead the Satellite communications engineering teams that cover their capabilities to reserve and manage passes, interface and control groundstations, own the connection to satellites and ensure the quality of downlinking and optimal behaviour.

You will lead and nurture a world-class engineering culture and team, ensuring they execute against short-term and long-term satellite, technology and business roadmaps. 

Key Responsibilities:
 

  • Space communication design and engineering of radio frequency and optical ground stations for communication and tracking, including space debris and near-Earth objects tracking.
  • Monitor the performance and quality of the ground stations, report and investigate anomalies, participate in the correction of anomalies and propose evolutions
  • Create and maintain schedules
  • Contribute to the preparation and maintenance of documentation to perform routine, non-routine and contingency operations activities, including operational procedures, working practices and user guides.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of statistics databases and monitoring systems
  • Provide statistics and inputs for periodic OPS reporting as defined in operations documentations
  • Provide periodic inputs to mission Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Contribute the medium and long-term operations planning.

Key Requirements:

  • You have wide experience in leading Engineering execution and teams. With a proven record of leading complex engineering delivery and either 10+ person teams or teams of teams. 
  • Technical depth in some sub-area of networking, communication, ground stations and relevant SW development skills. 
  • Proven skills in the discipline of engineering that covers SW/system design, modern approaches to testing, releasing that enable you to lead and continuously improve how your teams are working. (Required to be able to help the team succeed and level-up)
  • Exceptional skills in hiring and coaching engineers. Can hire for the right technical skill and has been able to coach all levels of engineers from junior to seniors. 
  • Efficient and motivational communication skills that work one2one or one2many.
  • Based in Finland and happy to attend the office multiple times a week.

Senior Electronics Engineer

A cutting-edge satellite technology company renowned for its revolutionary synthetic-aperture radar technology is seeking a Senior Electronics Engineer to join its team. This innovative organization specializes in providing high-resolution and real-time Earth observation solutions, making a significant impact in the field.

 

What you’ll be doing

 

  • Develop mixed-signal electronics for satellites.
  • Ensure quality throughout development to mitigate orbit issues, and thoroughly document designs.
  • Conduct testing at both board and system levels, collaborate with other departments, and perform root cause analysis for ground or orbit issues.

 

Ideal experience for the role

  • 5+ years of experience in electronics engineering
  • Demonstrated proficiency in board-level design, encompassing schematics, PCB layout, simulations, etc.
  • Expertise in Altium Designer or equivalent EDA tools for PCB design
  • Understanding of lab measurements at both board and system levels
  • Proven problem-solving and debugging abilities
  • Capability to conduct root-cause analysis

EVONA are working with a leading satellite company with a growing workforce and constellation of satellites. The team are searching for an experienced Director of Sales Engineering in their Satellite Missions area of the business.

This key leadership position demands a candidate with a strong engineering background, outstanding communication abilities, and a track record of effective collaboration with sales, engineering, and product development teams. In this role, you’ll be instrumental in bolstering our sales initiatives and overseeing the Sales Engineering department.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership in Sales Engineering & Bid Management:
 

  • Spearhead proposal development and bid processes for Satellite Missions.
  • Cultivate and manage a top-tier sales engineering team.
  • Serve as a vital link between sales and engineering teams.

Enhancing Sales Efforts:
 

  • Guide and empower the sales team with essential technical support and resources throughout the sales process.
  • Oversee the creation of technical sales materials and documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with sales to engage prospective clients.
  • Lead in responding to RFQs and actively participate in unsolicited proposals to maximize business growth.
  • Utilize your engineering expertise to impart in-depth technical insights during client interactions.

Client Engagement & Presentations:
 

  • Represent the technical and product aspects in client meetings, delivering persuasive and tailored presentations.

Qualifications:

Educational & Professional Background:
 

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Solid background in sales engineering or technical sales, with proven success.
  • Leadership or managerial experience is desirable.

Technical Competence:
 

  • In-depth knowledge of engineering principles and the ability to clearly convey technical ideas to varied audiences.
  • Familiarity with relevant technologies in information systems or complex systems.
  • Experience in aerospace is beneficial but not required.
