Thermal Engineer

Thermal Engineer – Fully Remote!

Job Description:
The successful Thermal Engineer will work satellite thermal subsystem & payload non-recurring and recurring/sustaining efforts and activities including systems engineering, design, analysis, assembly, and testing. The successful candidate will be innovative, creative, and challenge the status quo. They will work well in teams while also having the ability to lead a small team and to work assignments autonomously.

Responsibilities:
• Thermal hardware design, analysis and test (Spacecraft Structure, Avionics development support, MLI blankets, venting, heat pipes, sensors, etc)
• Document creation and management.
• Database creation and maintenance.
• Interfacing with manufacturing group to monitor component production progress • Interfacing with integration and test group to monitor component integration
• Compilation of comprehensive parts lists using information from Bills of Materials (BOMs), engineering drawings, online databases, and data from subcontractors and suppliers
• Develop and maintain thermal design documentation at system and payload equipment level: analysis reports, interface control drawings, test procedures and tooling (Thermal Cycling, TVAC, assembly), manufacturing drawings.
• Derive subsystem environmental and test requirements from the top-level spacecraft requirements
• Perform post test/flight thermal model correlation
• Troubleshoot and investigate component anomalies and failures, perform root-cause analysis, and provide resolution.
• Develop thermal and subsystem test plans and procedures, identify hardware needs, design of test set-ups.
• Technical support for production and testing of satellites and the associated hardware.

Qualifications
• Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience in thermal design, integration, and testing of spacecraft
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field. Higher degree is preferred.
• Strong technical skill in Thermal analysis using Thermal Desktop, thermal hardware, thermal testing, multi-layer insulation, integration, testing, spacecraft, manufacturing, Bill of materials, subcontractor oversight.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team with other engineers.
• Flexibility/adaptability in a fast-paced & dynamic environment.
• Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic programming skills are preferred

We are working with an Aerospace and Defense company based in the Dallas, TX area and they are looking for an Electrical Engineer. The primary responsibilities center around the development of avionics and control systems for robust flight platforms. This includes specification definition, design, development, verification, validation, implementation, and continued support.

This position involves travel, and the successful candidate may be required to travel up to 20% of the time for mission support.

Responsibilities: 

  • Design and develop instrumentation, control, and telemetry systems.
  • Establish, document, and maintain streamlined mission-critical software 
  • Coordinate with responsible parties to define system, test, and data requirements, and establish criteria for verification 
  • Contribute to the development of test/flight readiness, and data reviews  
  • Fulfil discipline-specific console operation for test and flight missions 
  • Ensure safe and effective conduct of ground and flight test missions, and help identify potential safety or operational concerns 

Basic Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or similar technical foundation 
  • Ideally experience in data acquisition, control systems, or instrumentation 
  • Ability to systematically troubleshoot and resolve issues 
  • Strong work ethic and ability to thrive in a fast-paced R&D environment 
  • Ability to effectively leverage COTS and consumer-grade hardware for novel applications
  • Candidates will need to be US citizens OR current Green Card Holders. 

Preferred Qualifications
