A leading space technology company is seeking a Senior ACS Engineer to contribute to the development of Attitude and Controls Systems. You will collaborate with the Space Systems team based in Bay Area, CA, or remotely within the U.S., with occasional travel to the Bay Area as required.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, analyze, and verify satellite attitude control systems (ACS)
  • Coordinate the implementation of ACS related FDIR (Failure Detection, Isolation, and Recovery) systems
  • Develop and cascade system and test requirements to flight software, unit design, production, and operations engineers
  • Support cross-functional teams in implementing and testing control topologies and ACS flight software, including tasks related to Assembly, Integration and Test (AIT)
  • Assist cross-functional teams in the development and qualification of new ACS sensors and actuators
  • Hands-on experience with ACS hardware in various environments such as development, testing, or operations

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline. Four additional years of experience may substitute for a degree
  • 8 years of relevant experience; a master's degree may count as two years of experience
  • Proficiency in dynamics, feedback control systems, spacecraft attitude control methods, or orbital mechanics
  • Practical experience with ACS Hardware in a Development, Test, or Operations environment, including debugging real-world issues (e.g., noise or timing issues)
  • Occasional domestic travel (~4 times a year) may be necessary

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in guidance, navigation, and control systems for spacecraft attitude control
  • Familiarity with GPS systems and hardware
  • Background in Mission Operations
  • Expertise in executing the systems engineering discipline, particularly in requirements generation, evaluation, decomposition, synthesis, and flow down

 

Salary Information:

Salary ranges are competitive and market-driven, offering flexibility based on a candidate’s unique qualifications, skills, and geographical location. Compensation for this position falls within the range of $117,000.00 to $195,000.00 annually.
