Position Summary:
The Senior Assembly, Integration & Test (AI&T) Engineer will be responsible for leading and executing all testing required for the deployment of the PULSAR satellite constellation. This role includes full ownership over production capabilities, ensuring the efficient verification and validation (V&V) of Xona payloads. The Senior AI&T Engineer will also provide strategic oversight for integration planning and operations on the production floor, working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to maintain high standards of reliability and performance.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring expertise in environmental testing, integration processes, and manufacturing execution. The ideal candidate will drive improvements in testing methodologies, implement best practices for assembly and integration, and oversee critical test campaigns.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all aspects of payload assembly, integration, and test activities.
- Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and analysis for environmental testing, including thermal, vibration, shock, EMI/EMC, and acoustic testing.
- Establish and refine production capabilities to ensure the efficient delivery of satellite payloads.
- Provide strategic oversight for integration planning and operations on the production floor.
- Develop and implement processes, test assets, and tooling for new and existing hardware.
- Contribute to design reviews, ensuring testability and manufacturability considerations are integrated.
- Support critical testing campaigns, including potential travel and availability for 24/7 operations when required.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and manufacturing standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or equivalent) and 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong teamwork, professionalism, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and attention to detail.
- Experience with thermal, vibration, shock, EMI/EMC, and acoustic testing.
- Proficiency in writing test plans, procedures, and analyzing test data.
- Ability to develop processes, test assets, and tooling for both new and existing hardware.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to support critical testing campaigns, including travel and 24/7 availability as needed.
- Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
- Experience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
- Familiarity with structured Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001, AS9100).
- Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing fundamentals.
- Experience with process capability, process variance, and six sigma tools.
- Experience integrating automation within a digital factory framework.
- Direct management experience overseeing engineers, specialists, and/or technicians.
- Experience with spaceflight components and spacecraft environmental testing.
