We’re supporting a leading space tech organization on their search for a Satellite Database Engineer to join a team focused on developing mission-critical databases that power the integration, operations, and analytics of complex satellite systems.

This is a highly specialized role ideal for someone with deep experience in MIB-based telemetry and command data, looking to make an impact across mission operations and system performance at scale.

What you’ll do:

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust satellite telemetry and command databases

  • Integrate Mission Information Base (MIB) format files into operational ground software

  • Process large-scale real-time and historical telemetry data in line with CCSDS standards

  • Architect and optimize databases for high-throughput satellite operations

  • Deploy scalable solutions using AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud

  • Automate and process data pipelines using Python, SQL, and shell scripting

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with ground systems, aerospace engineers, and mission planning teams

Technical toolkit:

  • Strong experience with MIB files, telemetry parameter structuring, command definitions, and validation tools

  • Familiarity with CCSDS telemetry and command handling

  • Proven ability in relational and non-relational data modeling for space applications

  • Experience in cloud-native databases (e.g. AWS RDS, Azure Cosmos DB, Google BigQuery)

  • Hands-on with containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes

  • Python, SQL, Bash scripting, and use of database APIs

  • Knowledge of secure database practices including encryption and access control

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Data Science, Aerospace Engineering, or related

  • 10+ years in database development and space systems

  • Strong background in MIB telemetry and command database design for satellite ops

  • Understanding of telemetry ground systems and integration into mission control or flight software

  • Experience supporting LEO/MEO communication constellations

Bonus points for:

  • Familiarity with space environment, RF systems, or satellite power tech (batteries, solar)

  • Mentoring junior engineers or leading technical teams

  • Fluency in French (a plus, not a must)

  • Proven record of autonomous problem-solving and high-ownership execution
