Mechanical Engineer - 2nd Shift (3.30pm to 11.30pm) - Up to $100,000 p.a. - Merritt Island, FL

Are you ready to join an innovative team shaping the future of aerospace? We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer for our 2nd shift (3.30pm to 11.30pm), offering up to $100,000 per year, at our Merritt Island, Florida location. This role is a blend of technical expertise, and a passion for aerospace manufacturing.

 

Your Role:

  • Provide first-level engineering support for production assembly lines, focusing on troubleshooting and repairing flight hardware.
  • Act as a technical referent for mechanical support engineers and technicians.
  • Collaborate with Design to Manufacturing (D2M) teams to validate off-nominal repairs and processes.
  • Lead standard repair trainings and support the development of processes for hardware rework and repairs.
  • Work closely with Production Quality Engineering and D2M on work instruction reviews and Process Failure Mode Engineering Analysis (PFMEA).
  • Identify failure modes in processes and designs, proposing corrective actions.
  • Implement changes on the Final Assembly Line (FAL) based on design or process modifications.
  • Be a point of contact for 3D measurement validation and manage maintenance and calibrations of assigned equipment.

 

About You:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing preferred)
  • Minimum 2/3 years’ experience in a production environment, preferably in aerospace.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware handling, repairs, and power tools.
  • Knowledge of spacecraft flight hardware is beneficial.
  • Strong commitment to work and problem-solving skills.

 

Physical & Working Environment:

  • Role involves sitting, standing, and using hands for various tasks. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds required.
  • Personal Protective Equipment such as safety shoes and glasses may be necessary.
  • The work environment is busy and noisy, with varying conditions and some mechanical and chemical hazards.
