About the Role:
We are seeking a talented and driven DevOps / Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join a growing, dynamic team focused on building cutting-edge robotic systems. The role involves working on both cloud infrastructure and IoT robotic devices deployed at customer sites. As an integral part of our team, you'll be responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our systems and infrastructure.

In this role, you will combine DevOps practices with SRE principles to automate deployments, improve system reliability, monitor performance, and address any issues that arise in production. You'll play a key role in shaping the future of robotic automation, while collaborating closely with development teams to improve the overall workflow and service delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • CI/CD Pipeline Management: Design, implement, and optimize robust CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and code quality, ensuring a streamlined deployment process.

  • Deployment Automation: Develop and manage deployment tools (e.g., Spinnaker, Helm) to automate deployments to cloud environments and IoT devices.

  • Security & Access Control: Implement security measures for internal tools and customer deployments, enhancing authentication and access management.

  • Containerization & Orchestration: Automate image builds and streamline containerization workflows using Docker and Kubernetes for efficient scaling.

  • Environment Management: Set up and maintain staging, production, and IoT environments for service validation, testing, and high availability.

  • IoT Device Monitoring & Alerting: Develop and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting systems for Linux-based IoT devices to maintain system health and performance.

  • System Reliability & Availability: Proactively monitor system performance, identify potential issues, and resolve them quickly to ensure high uptime.

  • Release Management: Oversee software releases, ensuring smooth deployments with minimal downtime. Troubleshoot release-related issues efficiently.

  • Collaboration & Documentation: Work closely with development teams to support DevOps/SRE needs, and thoroughly document processes, configurations, and incidents.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Experience: 10+ years in a DevOps, SRE, or similar role.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Strong Linux system administration experience.

    • Expertise in CI/CD and test automation practices.

    • Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python or Bash.

    • Experience with tools like Bazel for build automation.

    • Familiarity with deployment tools like Spinnaker, Helm, or similar.

    • Solid knowledge of containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).

    • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

    • Familiarity with deploying software to IoT or Linux-based devices.

  • Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting: Ability to resolve complex issues in production environments quickly.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent collaboration and communication skills with both technical and non-technical teams.

  • Startup Mindset: Comfortable working independently and in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

  • Experience with Airflow.

  • Experience using Terraform for infrastructure setup.

About the Role
As the Security Operations Engineer, you will be a cornerstone of our security team. You’ll identify vulnerabilities, respond to incidents, and ensure compliance with industry standards. This is a hybrid role based in San Mateo, CA, requiring three days per week in-office.


Key Responsibilities

  • Threat Monitoring & Incident Response: Continuously monitor security tools, logs, and assessments to identify vulnerabilities and respond to security incidents.
  • Security Tool Management: Configure and manage tools like SIEM, EDR, DLP, and MDM, ensuring optimal performance and compliance.
  • Automation & Dashboarding: Build dashboards, automated alerts, and access controls to improve visibility and streamline operations.
  • Access Control & IAM: Oversee identity and access management systems, ensuring secure access across the organization.
  • Incident Response Leadership: Develop and lead comprehensive incident response plans, including forensic analysis, containment, and mitigation strategies.
  • Compliance & Auditing: Assist in security audits and compliance checks, adhering to standards such as ISO 27001, SOC2, NIST, and FedRAMP.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with IT, Cloud, and Engineering teams to integrate security practices across all stages of development and operations.
  • Training & Documentation: Provide guidance and training on security policies while maintaining thorough documentation for operations, incidents, and compliance activities.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Experience: 5+ years in security operations or similar roles, with proven expertise in analyzing security logs and managing security technologies.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in Python for automating security tasks and workflows.
    • Strong knowledge of operating systems, network protocols, and architecture.
    • Hands-on experience with SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, and vulnerability discovery tools.
    • Familiarity with AWS (e.g., IAM, Security Groups, KMS, S3) and cloud security principles.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Understanding of frameworks like ISO 27001, NIST, SOC2, and FedRAMP, with experience in audits.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong ability to troubleshoot under pressure and resolve complex security challenges effectively.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills for working with technical and non-technical teams.
