Space Procurement Manager

You will collaborate closely with project teams and suppliers to ensure the timely and precise delivery of manufactured hardware (components, materials, or full subsystems for Satellites), and services, while optimizing costs. Your responsibilities will span all phases of subcontract management, from initiating business cases for make-or-buy decisions to negotiating contracts and overseeing program execution. Key tasks include:

– Directing the entire subcontract process, from business case development to negotiation strategy and program execution.
– Collaborating with legal/contract departments to ensure favorable contract terms.
– Establishing milestone objectives and managing performance against schedules and specifications.
– Initiating project requests for quotes and advising on supplier selection.
– Proactively tracking procurement status and communicating progress to the project team.
– Developing sourcing strategies to mitigate risks in the Space Supply Chain and support company growth targets.
– Working with suppliers to understand and mitigate their supply chain risks.
– Implementing cost-saving initiatives and negotiating long-term agreements.
– Resolving supply issues promptly under the guidance of relevant managers.
– Providing advice on manufacturing techniques, materials, and acceptance criteria.
– Monitoring market trends and building effective relationships with stakeholders.

Required experience and competencies:
– Minimum 7 years of experience as a Senior Buyer or similar sourcing role in the space industry, including logistics.
– Proven commercial negotiation skills.
– Experience in developing and executing procurement and sourcing strategies.
– Familiarity with Material Requirement Planning (MRP) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
– Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
– Strong financial acumen.
– Proactive attitude with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
– Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
– Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
