Flight Software Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain flight software for spacecraft systems used in various satellite missions.
  • Collaborate closely with the engineering team to ensure seamless software-hardware integration for their standardized satellite platform.
  • Design and implement software for embedded systems and real-time applications in a demanding space environment.
  • Conduct comprehensive software testing and verification to ensure mission safety and reliable operation.

Flight Software Engineer Requirements:

  • Experience coding in C++ and Assembly language (or relevant experience).
  • Knowledge of spacecraft systems, flight dynamics principles, and communication protocols.
  • Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded systems development.
  • Experience with software development tools like Git, Make, and debuggers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or similar disciplines.

About the Role:
You will lead the management of our Data Science and Machine Learning Platform, enabling data-driven decision-making across various facets of our operations. This role is instrumental in developing the roadmap and implementing functionalities to empower embedded Data Scientists, ML practitioners, and advanced analytics users to develop, train, validate, and deploy AI, ML, and Data Science models. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and customers to drive innovation and ensure the secure and ethical implementation of advanced analytics technology.

Responsibilities:
– Lead and mentor a growing team of DS and ML practitioners to build tools and functionalities that accelerate the model development lifecycle.
– Define and implement the advanced analytics technology roadmap to address complex challenges across manufacturing, design, and mission operations.
– Manage incident management, customer communications, and mitigation strategies for platform outages.
– Evaluate new technologies and vendors to enhance platform capabilities.
– Serve as a center of excellence for Data Science, ML, and AI practices, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
– Ensure secure and ethical implementation of models in collaboration with Data Governance and Cyber Security teams.
– Monitor, analyze, and optimize platform performance to maximize return on investment.

Qualifications:
– 5+ years of experience writing production-grade code in a modern programming language.
– 3+ years of people management experience.
– Experience building part of a modern data science stack, from design to production code.
– Proven track record of delivering complex, large-scale projects.
– Deep technical knowledge of Spark, Databricks, ML Flow, or similar technologies.
– Familiarity with AWS, data engineering, data modeling, and data quality.
– Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
– Ability to lead product roll-out process from conception through operationalization.
