Senior PNT/Communications Systems Engineer

At EVONA we are looking for a Senior PNT/Communications Systems Engineer to join our client,
a space-to-cloud analytics company that owns and operates the largest multi-purpose constellation of satellites. Its proprietary data and algorithms provide the most advanced maritime, aviation, and weather tracking in the world. In addition to its constellation, its data infrastructure includes a global ground station network and 24/7 operations that provide real-time global coverage of every point on Earth.

Responsibilities of your role

  • Help define system architectures for communication and RF sensing systems, trade-off technical concepts, assess feasibility, select solutions, and help drive execution
  • Simulate and model communication systems and RF sensing systems
  • Evaluate mission requirements and drive top-level RF system architecture, including for payload and communication subsystems
  • Analyze and characterize system performance parameters
  • Produce high-quality engineering documentation, typically written reports or design documents suitable for internal and external design reviews.
  • Interact with multidisciplinary, international teams

Basic Qualifications/Experience

  • 5+ years of experience required, with a degree in RF engineering, communication systems engineering, DSP engineering, or similar disciplines.
  • Solid background and understanding of digital communication systems, RF receivers, RF hardware and signal-processing software
  • Knowledge and understanding of PNT systems
  • Demonstrated experience with link budget design and analysis
  • Demonstrated experience with communication system architecture
  • Demonstrated ability to make trade-offs between cost, complexity, and capabilities for complex systems
  • Demonstrated experience working with a cross-functional team of engineers
  • Experience writing high-quality technical reports and proposals
  • Strong programming capabilities (Python, Matlab, C, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of industry regulatory requirements and spectrum licensing
  • Demonstrated experience with satellite communication systems, including environmental and component reliability requirements
  • Demonstrated experience with digital beamforming
  • Experience with implementation of communication systems, e.g. software-defined radio, Embedded and DSP programming, FPGA Design/ Programming
  • Experience with RF test equipment and processes, e.g. using spectrum analyzers, VNAs, noise sources, signal generators etc. Ideally including working with shielded environments and anechoic chambers
  • Demonstrate good analytical and mathematical skills
  • Able to write production-level Python code
  • RF Hardware design experience in frontend design, antenna design, etc.

Launcher Assembly Mechanic

Our client are on a mission to help democratise the space industry, and use it for good. They are leading the New Space charge to enable faster, better and cheaper access to space through their sustainable/environmentally friendly launch solutions for small and medium sized satellites/constellations.

In this role, you will be responsible for assembling both engines and rockets!

  • Machining – carbon fiber composites

Skills required:

  • Spatial awareness, drawing skills and a strong technical understanding
  • Fluency in English, German language skills is an advantage

The Role and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the development of low- and high-voltage electronic circuits and assemblies for automotive applications
  • Develop circuit diagrams, circuit simulations and PCB layouts
  • Develop and carry out tests in the low and high voltage range
  • Take over the care, maintenance and documentation of applications and processes
  • Actively collaborate with and support internal technical teams on various projects

 
Job Requirements

The Autonomous Spaceflight team is realizing the first spacecraft autopilot (real-time on-board autonomous navigation and orbit control) which will offer a new standard for flight dynamics operations.

The Role and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the design, development and testing of the autopilot hardware in its entire life cycle from prototyping and design to manufacturing and testing
  • Responsible for the development of electronic circuits and assemblies for the autopilot space hardware
  • Develop circuit diagrams, circuit simulations and PCB layouts
  • Define and implement the electrical interfaces for a seamless integration into a spacecraft
  • Support the set up and execution of hardware-in-the-loop test campaigns in our guidance, navigation and control (GNC) Lab
  • Build test setups for breadboarding, prototyping or qualification test campaigns
  • Preparing specifications for the procurement of electrical equipment and EEE parts
  • Code and debug in embedded C/C++
  • Create relevant documentation when required

The Autonomous Spaceflight team is realizing the first spacecraft autopilot (real-time on-board autonomous navigation and orbit control) which will offer a new standard for flight dynamics operations.

The functional flight software is in an advanced implementation and testing phase and needs now to be tailored and optimized for the deployment on the autopilot’s hardware.

The Role and Responsibilities

  • Provide experience for the design and implementation of embedded software systems according to spacecraft flight software standards
  • Write high quality structured bare metal software for space mission critical embedded applications
  • Implement interfaces, tasks and threads which allow a seamless integration of the autopilot process into the spacecraft flight software tasks
  • Support and improve existing software and build/deploy/upgrade processes for different embedded targets and RTOSs
  • Performing software verification, validation and testing and create tools required by validation activities
  • Support the set up and execution of software- and hardware-in-the-loop test campaigns in our guidance, navigation and control (GNC Lab)
  • Create relevant documentation when required
